Currency: As with most of mainland Europe, the Euro (€) is the unit of currency in Germany. Euros come in note denominations of €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200, and €500 and in 1, 2 and 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cent coins.
Credit cards: All major credit cards are widely accepted for just about anything although many of the smaller independent shops may only take cash.
ATMs: One of the easiest ways of getting hold of your money is to withdraw cash from ATMs using your credit or debit card (your bank may charge you for this). ATMs can be found all over Berlin and they tend to offer a better exchange rate than traveller's cheques.
Banks: Most banks are generally open Mon-Fri from 09.00 until 16.00.
